turn-key furnishing of a family vacation home
A large shingled style estate consisting of a main house and guest wing located on a coastal inlet on the South Western Shore of Nova Scotia. We were hired by the home's new owners, who reside full-time overseas, to furnish the empty 5,000 sf main residence and outfit it with all the essentials. Although the exterior of the home was older, the interior of the main house had been newly renovated with with brand new materials but which we were not involved in designing, with exception of directing some painting of wood. The guest wing, already in a furnished state, was not part of our scope. Our mandate was to work with all the existing finishes and with the large unconventional layout to create inviting spaces that evoke an elegant but relaxed East Coast vibe. Completing the house in a short matter of time and with a practical budget was a priority in order that the house could be used for the upcoming summer and fall seasons. The work was ultimately phased over the course of 18 months. In addition to furnishings, requirements included acquiring all bedding, bathroom and kitchen essentials to accommodate a full house of 12. Outfitting the home top to bottom, from soup spoons to sofas. With exception of some custom made accent pillows and window coverings the entire project was completed with non-custom retail items mixed with a dose of locally sourced, quality vintage and antique pieces.
